28-29 March 2007 saw another successful run for Independent Living Scotland 2007, cementing its position as Scotland's largest disability event.
The event went so well almost 80 per cent of companies have signed up to exhibit at the next event, which will take place in the autumn of 2009.
More than 3,000 people attended Independent Living Scotland 2007 - which ran at the SECC in Glasgow from March 28-29 - a slight increase on the attendance on the last event in 2005. The visitors at this unique event consisted of healthcare professionals, the general public and trade visitors.
Well-known Radio DJ Tiger Tim opened the event and other highlights included a series of packed out seminar sessions for both professional and public audiences. One highlight for AHPs was a seminar on the new Framework for Adult Rehabilitation in Scotland from Jacqui Lunday, Chief Health Professions Officer at the Scottish Executive. Elsewhere in the programme, the public attended a session on Direct Payments presented by the Glasgow Centre for Inclusive Living in their droves. All the latest products from 130 of the industry's leading suppliers were also on display at the Show.
Joanne Smith, Acting Group Head of Events for Emap Public Sector, said: "The feedback we have received from exhibitors has been excellent, I am delighted that so many companies had such a productive exhibition.
"Visitors also gained a great deal from attending the event, with specialist seminars and demonstrations of the latest technology proving to be popular with people from all over Scotland."
Independent Living Scotland is changing seasons for its next show in 2009 - moving from its traditional spring dates to the autumn - and will be on September 9 and 10.
"Having Independent Living Scotland in the spring has made it too close to the end of the financial year, which isn't convenient for professional visitors. September is a more convenient time for the market and will prevent Independent Living Scotland coinciding with other events," explained Joanne.
"Both shows are very important to us and we want to get the timing right so that they are the best possible events for both exhibitors and visitors."
